About Paterna
Paterna is a free browser-based pattern studio for designers, developers and anyone who needs a custom geometric background.
Why it exists
A ready-made background often has the right idea but the wrong color, spacing or line weight. Paterna lets you adjust those details and export the result directly, without setting up a full drawing document.
What you can make
The studio includes 50 geometric presets, from dots, grids and contour lines to checkerboards, arches and woven arrangements. Choose a preset, set colors and dimensions, refine its controls and download PNG, SVG or CSS. Preview mode shows the artwork in an example website so you can judge its visual weight.
Background repeat exports a repeating tile. With that option off, exports use your canvas dimensions. The guide explains when to use each mode.
Made by an independent designer
Paterna is created by Giorgi Makatsaria. Product design, visual identity and development are part of the same ongoing project. The goal is a focused tool that makes experimentation quick and useful.
Your work stays local
Pattern generation and exports run in your browser. Custom presets are saved on this device, without an account or automatic cloud sync. Read our Privacy policy for how support messages and website analytics are handled.
